Hypnosis Books

My three most recommended hypnosis books would be the 'Deep Trance Training Manual', 'Hypnosis' & 'Hypnotherapy'. They are all a bit more expensive than many other books yet they give you a full overview and indepth comprehensive understanding of the field of hypnosis. Between them they cover most of the styles; direct, indirect, authoritarian and permissive. If you want to do rapid verbal inductions then Hypnotherapy is a good book. If you want to learn a few different approaches then Hypnosis is a useful book and if you want to learn conversational hypnosis and handshake inductions then the Deep Trance Training Manual is the book for you.

"The Deep Trance Training Manual Volume I" is the book for everyone exploring deep trance phenomena.

Building upon the reader's existing practical ability and basic knowledge, this systematic training approach holds the keys to inducing deep trance states quickly and easily.

This work presents practical exercises designed to improve technique and core theoretical principles from all the major hypnotic perspectives, supporting the development of elegant, individual style and language, and mastery of powerful approaches for dealing with others.

Chapters include: - Principles in formulating suggestions - The language of deep trance (the Milton Model made easy) - Rapport and personal power - Calibration - Deepening techniques - Rapid inductions (including three different handshake inductions) - Trance termination - Language patterns (including a vital section on creating a natural flow of language).

This was a book that I (Dan) was given by a mentor I had a few years into starting learning about hypnosis. The mentor was about to retire and kindly allowed me to have this book.

The cover is very plain yet the content is rich with knowledge. Dave Elman believed that anyone who wanted to be hypnotised could be hypnotised. This book is how to make that belief a reality.

If you want simple almost 'A-Z' hypnosis where each stage is clearly marked out with instructions or if you are a beginner to the field and not comfortable to 'ad-lib' it yet then this is definately the book for you.

Research shows that many people react differently to different types of hypnotic induction - yet many hypnotherapists are confined to using only one technique.

This practical book makes three radically different types of hypnosis easy to use in daily hypnotic work, exploring the methods of Milton H. Erickson, George Estabrooks and David Elman, presenting them in such a way as to allow a clear and accessible understanding.

A resource for all students, trainers and therapists, it includes a range of powerful scripts for improved hypnotic work.

"This is the sort of book that makes a reviewer's job worth doing. It is a gem. Well-written, well-paced and packed with information. [It] is a book that everyone with an interest in hypnosis will want to own." - Andrew Bradbury, author of "Successful Presentation Skills" and "Develop Your NLP Skills".

"An excellent introductory text for students beginning to study the art and science of hypnosis. For those already knowledgeable about hypnosis, there are many nuances that will enable you to increase the elegance of your work." - David Shephard BSc, Master Trainer of NLP, The Performance Partnership Ltd, London.

Training Trances is about how to therapeutically communicate with the unconscious mind.

The authors present their own unique integration of Ericksonian techniques, traditional models of hypnotherapy, and recent research in related areas.

Numerous new patterns modeled from the work of Milton H. Erickson, M.D. are clearly explained and demonstrated.

The use of trance in training design, to unconsciously install the skills being taught to the participants, is also covered.

The book developed from transcripts of a four day workshop, and the design of the book parallels the design chosen for the training itself.

Individual exercises or those done in groups of two or three are offered so that the reader may practice the techniques and learn the skills.

There are numerous "live" demonstrations, inductions, and double inductions which create for the reader a real "feel" of how hypnosis is done and which are also a rich source for linguistic analysis for the advanced reader.

Written with insight and humor, this book's most unique twist is its use of multi-level communication and hypnotic language to create a "training trance" for the readers as they journey through the text.

Some hypnotic references are obvious and explicit -- those which are not obvious will create enjoyable "ah-ha!" experiences for the reader as they are discovered.

Not techniquely a book but still a valuable hypnosis resource "Ericksonian Hypnosis Cards" are for putting people into trance, and guiding them to access the resources that will help them make certain changes.

These are great whether you're doing formal hypnosis, public speaking, or just want to tell more engaging stories.

They are based on the work of Milton Erickson, and also include techniques for wiring in the infamous NLP Milton Model, the world's most powerful hypnotic communication tool there is!

This book sets out to create for the reader the experience of attending one of Bill O'Hanlon's two-day seminars on Ericksonian hypnosis, capturing the fresh, humorous, energetic spirit of the event.

Using his innovative Class of Problems/Class of Solutions approach, O'Hanlon demystifies hypnosis, enabling readers to easily understand Ericksonian techniques and to elicit and use trance in clinical work.

"Putting aside the works of Ernie Rossi and Bandler and Grinder this is probably the most comprehensive book for learning all about Ericksonian Hypnotherapy." Dan

This is a wonderfully thorough training manual for hypnotherapy and specifically Ericksonian methods.

Set in its historical context, the book systematically sets aside myths and misconceptions and covers the necessary groundwork of rapport building skills, methods of induction, and use of language.

At the same time it usefully covers NLP skills in the context of hypnotherapy both in and out of trance, before entering into the specifics of inductions, hypnotic phenomena and use of metaphor.

Filled with case studies covering a wide range of client types and client issues that can be helped through the use of hypnosis, this manual also takes good care to cover necessary ethical and legal considerations.

Anyone intending to work with clients using NLP and/or hypnosis for any kind of change work, should give serious thought in advance to the matters raised in this excellent book.

It is essential to have a clear understanding of the ethical issues involved and the boundaries that should be in place to contain your work - before taking on clients.

This book goes a long way to help the reader and student in this. This book is recommended for: Anyone with a serious and responsible interest in learning the skills of hypnotherapy. Students and teachers of hypnotherapy and NLP.
