FAQ
A: Hypnosis is a focused state of mind. It is the state of mind you enter dozens of times a day to update your brain every time you learn something new. In hypnosis many people feel no different to being fully alert as hypnosis often heightens your senses making you more aware of the world around you. It is not necessary to be relaxed in hypnosis although many people find they do become relaxed. To most people being hypnotised feels like the state of mind you are in when you daydream or the state of mind you are in just before you wake up. In hypnosis you are likely to be fully aware of your surroundings but prefer to remain focused internally on what is being discussed. Most people will have parts of their time in hypnosis where they have important internal work to do and to do this without distractions they will shut off from external reality for a few moments at a time.
Q: How Long Will Therapy Take? How Many Sessions Will I Need?
A: It depends on the problem; how complex the issue is; whether there are factors that need time (change takes place between sessions in many cases as it is in daily life that the problem existed); etc. In many cases people can be helped with a single session (frequently problems like Phobias, PTSD, Habits). An average number of sessions is between 3-6 sessions (frequently problems like Severe Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, OCD). With a small number of cases requiring more sessions (frequently problems like Major Life Issues, Some Depression & Anxiety Cases). Some people also have more sessions because they want to deal with more than one issue and need time to address them all; or they want ongoing support (like ongoing stress management; or ongoing life coaching)
